Wormbush (D. fluxufium) are a species of vegetation indigenous to the terrorsphere planet New Hette.
They are very large bushes consisting of worm-like tendrils curling in various directions. They feed via chemosynthesis, extracting free radicals out of the air and soil which are absorbed into their bodies and then consumed by a vast swath of symbiotic microbes. Their process of breaking down the free radicals into compounds that the wormbush itself can subsist upon has an inadvertent effect of producing a bioluminescent glow. Their root structure is nearly non-existent and leaves them unsupported; this allows them to break from their roots at the tail end of their lives during annual wind storms and roll across the landscape dispersing their seeds in a similar manner to the tumbleweeds of Earth.
Trivia[]
- The Wormbush was officially named by Somarinoa on the Hello Games official planet, New Hette during Expedition 2: Beachhead on May 28, 2021.
