Tetron, the Cube World is the fourth planet in the Meiox system. While it supports life, Tetron is unique in that it is a cube world, with each side having its own separate evolutionary paths. One of the planet's sapient races to evolve was the Loranches, a race of near-Humans known for their utilization of magitek and members of the United Federation of Celestial Lifeforms.
The planet itself is believed to have been redesigned by an ancient, god-like civilization, perhaps as an interstellar art project or a show of power. Who or what caused the planet's strange cubed shape has been long forgotten by the galactic community as a whole, however in truth the species which designed this world has only disappeared relatively recently.
A closely guarded secret is a path through the lost farming community of Denkigama, which leads to the only known portal in the universe that allows direct access to the fishing town of Denkigama found on the planet Diakatan. Despite this, the path has been lost for centuries and with the extinction of the Centro, none remain that know of its existence.
Description[]
The six faces[]
The planet Tetron is a cube, and thus has six faces, similar to a dice. Each of the faces has a different number of continents:
- Onera is a face with a singular supercontinent. The lack of other environments to stop it has led to this face being completely overtaken by a fungiferous forest and is thus a haven for the Shrumites of the planet. The few Loranches who exist here have adapted and their demonym is the Onerans. There is no capital city as it is controlled by the Shrumites.
- Twove is the home face of the Enigman Empire and Somarinoa. It consists of one large continent and another smaller one not known to the rest of the populace; it is this second continent that the Enigman Empire use to rebuild after their collapse. Its capital is Empire City and its demonym is the Twoven.
- Threek is the only face that is in contact with the outside world and are members of the UFCL. They are the only one to know of the other five faces but have chosen not to contact them and allow them to grow and evolve on their own. Its capital is Tonatus and its demonym is the Threeks.
- Fourn is a primitive world of rainforests thanks to its many seas between the continents. The populace here are still tribal, and thus it has no capital. Its demonym is the Forlorn.
- Fiveol consists of one large continent surrounded by four smaller ones. While the four smaller continents and the edges of the large are verdant, the middle is a vast desert. Its capital is Voff, Tiered Oasis of the Sand Sea and its demonym is the Fiveols.
- Sixxhen is a world of large islands, interspersed with thousands of smaller islands in the form of archipelagos. Its capital is Storrak and its demonym is the Sixxhenners. By the alternate timeline of Future Imperfect, Sixxhen has been overtaken by the Enigman Empire and become a polluted wasteland of backstabbing, piracy, and totalitarianism.
Media appearances[]
Origins (1997)[]
The planet Tetron originated from a junior high school project when the creator was in 7th Grade, where the class was to come up with a number of ideas for video games, including their goals and settings. Although the finalized story of the Mega Somarinoa franchise wouldn't be invented for a few more years, the idea of traveling between the four sides was. During this time, no (known) video games had a cuboid world and at the time it would have been considered an original idea.
Mega Somarinoa (2000)[]
The first official appearance of Tetron takes place in this tongue-in-cheek platformer that referred to itself as "The biggest ripoff ever made". Although not specified in-game, the setting is on the face of Twove, where the farm boy Somarinoa is forced to try and stop the machinations of the fascist ruling nation, the Enigman Empire. The Empire seeks to kidnap Shrumites of a certain form to use as perpetual energy devices, while also transforming important potential threats to their regime into zombified slaves in robotic harnesses called Reaperbots.
Mega Somarinoa 2 (2002)[]
In this action-adventure sequel to the original platformer game, it is revealed that the Enigman Empire and its leader, Dr. Sergei Ripovovich actually survived the collapse of Empire City and have been preparing for retaliation in their secret base on a forgotten second continent. This game also reveals to protagonist Somarinoa the existence of the other five faces of the planet. At the end of the game Ripovovich opens the portal beneath Somarinoa's hometown of Denkigama but is defeated and knocked into the portal, which appears to spaghettify him and tear him apart.
"Tetron RPG" (2003)[]
In this RPG based on the planet which takes place hundreds of years before Mega Somarinoa, the player's party discover the six sides of Tetron by traveling to the edges of each map, which drops the ship 90° and onto the map of the adjacent face.
Mega Somarinoa: Future Imperfect (2004)[]
This action-adventure-stealth game takes place in a dystopian future where the Enigman Empire defeated Somarinoa and nearly killed him. Now a cyborg, Somarinoa has gone into hiding and attempting secret attacks on the ever-growing empire for the last fifteen years. Having discovered an opportunity to bring the empire down and realizing he's not getting any younger, Somarinoa tries to stop the empire one last time.
This game takes place on the Sixxhen face of the planet and is darker and grittier than the rest of the franchise.
Battle Royale (2010)[]
Although Tetron doesn't physically appear in the game, it is mentioned in the profile bios of characters in the game who originated in Mega Somarinoa 1 & 2.
Amalgam Online (2010)[]
Tetron is one of the thousands of planets that a player can visit in this game. It is the homeworld to the Loranche playable race, and is thus a member of the UFCL.
Xrosroads (2011)[]
Again, Tetron does not actually appear but is instead mentioned in the species description when the player is selecting a Loranche as their avatar.
Immortal Greed (2012)[]
Tetron is mentioned in the species description when the player is selecting a Loranche as their avatar.
Immortal Greed 2: Unrest (2014)[]

Mega Somarinoa: Age of Restoration (2015)[]
The story of Age of Restoration takes place on the planet Tetron, within a neighboring kingdom to Somarinoa's own. In the story, Somarinoa has chosen to travel to the region a year after stopping Dr. Ripovovich's revenge plot seen in Mega Somarinoa 2 to help them rebuild after the kingdom was decimated by attacks perpetrated by the now-collapsed Enigman Empire.
Long Story (2015)[]
Tetron was originally intended to appear in this 2D RPG. It was expected that the players would return to the starting town of Denkigama and travel through the hidden wormhole to visit Tetron, but this connection has not been cemented yet.
Grown (2016)[]
Tetron appears in Chapters 17, 19, 21, and 32 as a setting for the plot.
Immortal Greed 3: Chaos (2016)[]
Tetron is mentioned in the species description when the player is selecting a Loranche as their avatar.
Roguestar (2022)[]

TLDR: Another Long Story (2023)[]
Tetron may appear in this sequel to Long Story, which takes place in space.
Neurons Meet Servos (2020‒current)[]
Although as of 2023 it has not occurred yet, following the first story arc of this No Man's Sky webcomic, the storyline is meant to flashback every other arc. The first flashback would explain Somarinoa the Lost's origins on planet Tetron, and his heroic sacrifice that takes place in the Immortal Greed franchise before finding himself in the Euclid Galaxy, where he eventually founds the Orfen Fleet, the main protagonist group of the comic.
