Okohanew, usually shortened to Okoha as an affectionate nickname, is a Zerukar survivalist and celestial navigator who survived the Tragedy of the Yabech-Guch Spirit. He plays a minor role in Rook's storyline in Neurons Meet Servos.

Physical appearance[]

Okoha is a runt of his species, though this places him at a general "average" height of a typical sapient explorer in the Atlas Supercluster.

Personality[]

Abilities[]

Celestial navigation[]

Okoha is a celestial navigator, an almost mystical level member of his species that can use their hair-covered signaling appendages to feel the flow of the galaxy as a whole to chart courses to other celestial bodies with near precision. The further distance needed to travel, the longer he must meditate on the matter or risk being off by a small distance. Without the proper meditation needed, traveling to the other side of the galaxy for a general celestial navigator can leave them a few parsecs off course, but rarely any more distant than that.

Okoha was able to use this ability while moonside to help locate stationary food to eat as well as the floating crystals he and his partner Ukuokay would mine for resources.

Survival skills[]

Okoha, alongside another Zerukar, were able to show they were capable of survival on the boilingly hot surface of a planet with little initial supplies.

Restructural engineering[]

Following their pairing up, Okoha showed that he was capable of dismantling his own drop pod to use in building the pair a minor settlement to live in.

Relationships[]

Fellow Zerukar survivors[]

Because of the harrowing tragedy that their group of runt colonists experienced, those few who survived the crash in the Herevo-Seung System in mid-3423 have become strongly bonded to one another. Ultimately they all became primary players in the building and maintaining of a new, defensible capital settlement upon the moon of New Piyde.

Background history[]

Early life[]

3421[]

Exiled from home some years earlier, Okoha was one of around just over 1,000 colonists who found themselves aboard the frigate the MS Yabech-Guch Spirit, serving as its solitary celestial navigator. When it was shot down over the planet Elin U15, Okoha remained on the ship to try and help pilot it to relative safety, hoping to steer it to the tropical planet Rutfolk α. However, when the ship's pilots were killed in a sudden explosion Okoha resigned to his fate. It was then that a scientist who had been on the bridge named Ukuokay forced him to snap out of his mental state and board an escape pod to try and survive. These pods continued to try and travel to Rutfolk α for an improved likelihood of survival, but several pods including his own were unintentionally captured in the gravity well of the planet's moon, New Piyde, an inhospitable landscape.

3422[]

During the course of the following year, Okoha and another Zerukar who had landed on the moon near him, Ukuokay, went from living in caves dotting the landscape and in makeshift tents under the large rocky outcroppings to dismantling Okoha's drop pod to help in the construction of the new Okoha Outpost. From here they prospered for a time, traveling the region to mine floating crystals and study a local Vy'keen monolith.

3423[]

Midway through 3423, fellow Zerukar Rook discovered the pair when their base of operations, Okoha Outpost, was set upon by a band of space pirates. Though unable to fight the pirates himself in his current state, he waited until the attack was over and checked on its residents, surprised to find a pair of his own kind huddled together inside the structures. He offered to move them to a much more defensible position that he and another Zerukar had founded: Oxville. The pair readily accepted the offer following this recent attack and moved to the small colony where they proceeded to help build up its infrastructure.

Trivia[]

  • The full name of "Okohanew" originates from trying to take the information with me to work to fill in the information on my potential down time. The names of what I needed were thrown in haphazardly, leading to the "new" from "New Piyde" being placed after Okoha but without any spacing. By the time the articles were initially being written on this downtime, the creator had already forgot that this was the case and called him Okohanew for the rest of the day.
  • Okoha was named after a minor settlement the player came across on the moon, near to the drop pod named Ukuokay's Landing.
  • The idea of the celestial navigators using signaling appendages to feel the flow of space was inspired by the dance of the male peacock spider.
