The Kqa are the sapient species indigenous to the planet Gwoblob. They build large cities within mountainsides, having carved out naturally existing cave systems and used large crystals found within to allow light into their homes. The cities exit through the original entrances of the caves, making their cities hidden and indistinguishable from nature to many visitors. Strangely, while a Kqa can still be infested by a Xrondo parasite like generally every other species, the infestation process will fail, and Infested Kqas actually combine genetically with their parasite, yet it is the Kqa who remains in control. Why this occurs is not well understood but is believed to have to do with how Kqa DNA is built, or perhaps simply specific enzymes naturally occurring in the Kqa body that a Xrondo cannot handle without severe mutation.
A group of Kqas are known as a society.
