A piece of ibellaite, being used by a larval-stage Chongtungbonian as makeshift camouflage and armor.
Ibellaite is a rock formation made up of ferrite dust with traces of chromatic metal. It has an average metal content of 41%.
The mineral was first discovered by the Chongtungbonian Distal on the quagmire planet Endil A8 in March of 3423. Formed by water transport, having been brought to its current locations in hills and mountains and eroded and smoothed by water that evidence suggests once flowed over the planet's surface in the form of a world ocean or a cataclysmic flood.
Ibellaite is naturally not moving, but ever since the arrival of the aforementioned Chongtungbonian, they have been noted as "slow moving"; this is due to the natural Chongtungbonian reproduction during which they place their eggs underneath rock formations to allow their larvae to grow. After some weeks these begin to move about as the eggs hatch and carry the rocks around. Although the species is not native to the planet, Distal seems to prefer these rocks when placing his children, especially around his settlement, known as Chongtungbon Hill. This location has become a sanctuary of sorts for the larvae.
