Virier (Chipuscor I) (/viːr.iː.ɜːr/) is the only known planet in the Chipuscor System. A cube world, it is the home planet of the Nasturr'Exilami.

Summary[]

Virier

Etymology[]

"Virier" is the name of the primary creation deity of the local Nasturr'Exilami, inspired by early prehistoric encounters with the planet's creators, the Sculptors.

Location[]

Virier is the only known planet to orbit the star Chipuscor. It is unknown if this is because it is a created planet, or if a disaster earlier in Chipuscor's lifespan eliminated the other worlds that may have once orbited the star.

Planet Type[]

Virieris a telluric cube planet, shaped by the mysterious Sculptors, an ancient spacefaring race that, until recently, were members of the Ancients.

Surface[]

The surface of Virier consists mostly of long continent-sized peninsulas spanning across the planet to form its six "sides", with large, mostly circular bodies of water covering most of the rest of the world. One side of the world holds the planet's solitary supercontinent, Nasturria.

Atmosphere and Climate[]

The atmosphere and climate of Virier are comparable to Earth, with storms happening frequently across the globe but never in great enough quantities to leave the planet to be considered particularly dangerous to explore.

Moons[]

Virier does not possess any moons.

Locations[]

The planet has nine major cities, located across its six 'sides': Barporadis, Bridjanian, Corosse, Esane, Hopia, Kegeria, Nascon, Octon, and Taman, each of which is currently at war with the others.

Resources[]

Virier is known for its red spice reserves, which are used in flavoring certain foods and can be used as defense against would-be attacks by utilizing it as an eye irritant. Because of this and the local sapients only having reached their civilization era, the planet is considered by the galactic whole to be a worthless, backwater world beyond its strange physical nature.

Life[]

Intelligent[]

Name   Brief description
Nasturr'Exilami Spore The local sapients, the Nasturr'Exilami are an intimidating creature to look upon. The majority of their species worship the Sculptors, whom had a hand in creating their world and who associated with the creatures during their stone age, leading to cave paintings of the beings that led to their belief in a creation deity known as Virier.

They are a civilized race but have yet to reach the space era, leaving them to be left alone by the remaining local galactic travelers in the area -- the Nrrlak, the Gort, and the Asteromorph Gods. Some on the Galactic Council worry that they may one day rise to become an interstellar threat, but others chastise them on "judging a book by its cover too early into its penning".

Flora[]

Name   Brief description
Appledash Appledash Spore Appledash is a species of moderately-sized, bush-like vegetation. Its body consists large of a woody trunk, which end in yellowed, broad leaves. At many times of the year, Appledash produces tasty fruit.

It is the most common medium flora on the planet.

Ascheldimpf Ascheldimpf Spore Ascheldimpf is a species of tall tree consisting of a dark, purplish woody trunk and is covered in quite large, broad leaves that are brownish in hue. They produce huge, pocked fruit from which thousands of seeds can be found. These fruits are delectable, but often will begin to ferment before anything can get to them, leading to wildlife and sapients alike flocking to them during the right season to get inebriated off of their fruit. Nasturr'Exilami wine is most often derived from the Ascheldimpf fruit.

It is the most common large flora on the planet, made even more so by purposeful Nasturr'Exilami cultivation.

Brodus Brodus Spore Brodus is a species of small, brown-hued vegetation that consists of a spiked, spherical bulb out of the ground and several jagged, curled leaves. It is anchored to the ground with three large, tuber-like roots. It is best adapted for savannah and scrub brush.

It is the most common small flora on the planet.

Cressynthe Cressynthe Spore Cressynthe is a species of small vegetation that consists of a squat, brown, woody trunk that extends into the ground in three "spikes" that act as both roots and anchors. Its leaves extend out in clusters, and are yellowish in hue.

It is the third-most common small flora on the planet.

Cuppulus Cuppulus Spore Cuppulus is a species of tall tree consisting of a tall green trunk that expands as it grows upwards, forming an almost upside-down cone shape, until it reaches its apex, where several cups have formed. These fill with rain water and attract small animals to drink and bathe. Insect-equivalents that land here often will lay their eggs in the pools as well, but any life that happens to die here will slowly have its nutrients absorbed by the tree, as the bottoms of these cups are permeable membranes. They are also covered in large clusters of small leaves and bramble-like thorny vines that prevent larger predators from climbing the Cuppulus to catch the bathing creatures and in the process, potentially damage the cups.

It is the third-most common large flora on the planet.

Gerspenge Gerspenge Spore Gerspenge is a species of tall tree consisting of a twisted, woody, spire-like trunk that is mostly brown but with bands of purple throughout. At the canopy, it develops six large flower-leaves that encircle the top. Once pollinated, these produce a huge, spiky yellow fruit from the middle of the trunk. This fruit is half-integrated into the trunk itself and is therefore hard to harvest, but has a strong citrus taste to it.

It is the second-most common large flora on the planet.

Loppolip Loppolip Spore Loppolip is a species of small, purple-hued vegetation that consists of a purple base that extends into an array of tiny flowers. Its leaf structures are unique, in curl in large spirals around the organism.

It is the second-most common small flora on the planet.

Lumpp Lumpp Spore Lumpp is a species of moderately-sized, mushroom-like vegetation. Like mushrooms, they consist of a long, thin (and in this case, brown) stalk that ends in a turqouise cap. Its gills can range anywhere from white to a light gray in coloration.

It is the third-most common medium flora on the planet.

Mumps Mumps Spore Mumps is a species of moderately-sized, bush-like vegetation. It has a woody trunk for most of its length, but at its upper extremities these end in thick, spiky leaf structures. These produce a toxin that, when touched, causes paralysis and pain in those inflicted.

It is the second-most common medium flora on the planet.

Lilisaur

Feathered Lilisaur Spore Feathered Lilisaur

Armored Lilisaur Spore Armored Lilisaur

Winged Lilisaur Spore Winged Lilisaur

Horned Lilisaur Spore Horned Lilisaur

Lilisaurs are a metamorphosing organism.

The first stage (Larval Stage, known as the Feathered Lilisaur) of the multi-stage metamorphosis undertaken by this creature is largely herbivorous; this creature spends its time running along the ground.

In the second stage (Pupal Stage, known as the Armored Lilisaur), the Lilisaur forms a hard-spiked shell around its body as it undergoes further transformation. Unlike most pupal stages, basic movement and sight are possible though rarely used.

The third stage (Juvenile Stage, known as the Winged Lilisaur) of the multi-stage metamorphosis undertaken by this creature sees major changes to the creature's body and behavior. Now more aggressive as well as omnivorous, it takes to the sky to hunt for prey.

The fourth stage (Pupal 2 Stage, known as the Horned Lilisaur) sees the body undergo the most drastic changes. Including the growth of another pair of legs, and wings. The spikes on its back protect its changing body, and the feathers makes it seem larger to its predators.

Downrater Downrater Spore Downraters are considered to be a local pest species on the planet, aggressive by their very nature and not above killing and consuming anything they see the opportunity to get at.
Flounderbug Flounderbug Spore Flounderbugs are a primitive species of insectoid that is currently transitioning between a fully-aquatic life and a terrestrial one. Although no longer particularly amphibious, they still must remain in wet areas to avoid drying out and desiccating.
Kangatucasaurus Kangatucasaurus Spore The Kangatucasaurus is a strange species whose ancestors' origins were not understood until recently. The Kangatucasaurus is a herbivorous, bipedal creature which actually originates from the Space Locust colony ship that ultimately ended up on the planet Pteis.

The creature is a heavily-modified genetic hybrid, combining a kangaroo, toucan, and a stegosaurus, all species from the planet Earth. Although the reasoning behind this hybridization has been lost to time, what is known is that the Space Locust colony ship was discovered by the Grox and their Draconian slave-thralls, who severely damaged the colony vessel above Virier, where evidence suggests they may have been planning talks with the Sculptors that existed around the planet at the time. Instead, several levels of live cargo bays were damaged and while sealing off the bulkheads with energy shielding, a number of specimens were lost onto the planet. Although most of these were destroyed from the fall, several survived, including both the Kangatucasaurus and the Shiny Lugia.

It is possible that the Kangatucasaurus was modified by the Sculptors as a sign of good faith towards the Space Locust colony.

Pink Sea Anemone Pink Sea Anemone Spore A species that resides low on the planetary food web. It serves as a common meal to Downraters, Flounderbugs, and juvenile Shiny Lugias, among numerous other predators.

Unlike the similar-appearing organisms found on Earth, the Pink Sea Anemones of Virier are terrestrial, herbivorous creatures. They are r-strategists, and each can produce up to a million eggs per breeding season.

Setatert Setatert Spore A large species of herbivorous, land-dwelling creature found on the planet. The males use their golden scales to reflect sunlight into the eyes of the females. Once blinded, she will accept the male.
Shiny Lugia Shiny Lugia Spore Shiny Lugia (the "Diving Pokémon") are an accidentally-imported species left on the world by a seriously damaged Space Locust colony ship that happened to be carrying the creatures at the time. Although the species originally found on the ship were regular Lugias, over time the "shiny" colorations have taken dominance in this particular environment.

Lugia are amphibious birds and are able to hold their breath for extended periods of time. In fact, they often quietly spend their time deep at the bottom of the sea, even in deep-sea trenches, though they are most often to emerge during stormy nights. Their wing muscles are intensely strong, and are said to be able to knock apart regular wooden houses; whether this is actually true or not has not been scientifically tested, however.

They are the planet's apex predator.

Sporophilia Sporophilia Embryo Spore Named after the fruit flies that they resemble, these massive maggot-like grubs are one of the low species on the planetary food web, alongside Pink Sea Anemones.
Wartster Wartster Spore Wartsters are moderately-sized herbivores that live in social packs and root around for tubers and fruits. They defend themselves from predators with two pairs of large, sharp tusks used for goring foes and a set of pincers on their forelegs.

Appearances[]

Spore[]

In SPORE, the planet Virier was a world discovered by Somarinoa while exploring the galaxy with his Nrrlak species in early 2018.

Amalgam Online[]

The planet Virier is one of thousands of worlds that players can visit across the Amalgam Galaxy. A few minor missions occur on its surface, where due to the existence of the local sapients having yet to reach space themselves, the missions are played out as stealth missions, preventing you from interfering with the species. These missions include tasks that include locating a space pirate who has hidden on the world, confirming the planet's origins as a Sculptor world, and scanning samples of its lifeforms.

Long Story[]

Although the planet's low priority causes it to not actually be visited in Long Story, its name can be found on a computer aboard a vessel that lists known civilized worlds that have yet to reach space (a list that also includes the game's protagonists' homeworld, Diakatan).
